Young or old all would agree that it is impossible to bird watch with out a pair of binoculars. Young or old all would agree that it is impossible to bird watch with out a pair of binoculars.

High power spotting scopes, or binoculars, where the power exceeds 10x will need to be mounted on a tripod. Nowadays, binocuars are now made smaller and lighter than before. Pocket binoculars are aptly named; they can be carried in a shirt pocket and are perfect for theatergoers, travelers, and wildlife enthusiasts.

Folding in the eyepiece between observations will protect the eyepiece against scratches or other inadvertent damage. If you are using binoculars with a large, heavy objective lens it is helpful, if not necessary, to stabilize them by either resting them on something or mounting them on a tripod. Choosing a telescope is not an easy choice to make and is one that really needs research.

But when magnification is increased in binoculars, the brightness as well as the field of view decreases. When buying a telescope, look at your aspirations for owning a telescope, and what you want to get out of the telescope. If you are still in your twenties you can probably use all of that 7mm exit pupil above as your pupils will dilate to about that size in very dark conditions, however as you get older your pupil does not dilate more than about 4 to 5 mm so large exit pupils are wasted.

The newer binoculars are very lightweight making them ideal to pack in your lightweight luggage. It's really easier to choose when you know more about them.
